This Privacy Policy describes how the BingFastLogin Chrome Extension ("we," "us," or "our") handles user information. Our primary goal is to provide a fast and secure login experience for Binghamton University services while maintaining the absolute privacy of your credentials.
2. Data Collection and Usage
We believe in "Privacy by Design." As such:
- Authentication Information: The extension handles your university username, password, and 2FA secret keys. This data is used solely to automate the login process and generate TOTP codes.
Local Storage Only: All sensitive data, including your 2FA secret key, is stored locally on your device using the chrome.storage.local API. We do not have access to this data.
No External Transmission: No credentials, secrets, or personal data are ever transmitted to our servers or any third-party services.
No Tracking: We do not track your browsing history, collect analytics, or use cookies to identify you.
3. Permissions Justification
To function correctly, the extension requires the following permissions:
- storage: Used to save your 2FA secret and "Fast Login" settings locally on your computer.
- activeTab : Used only when you click "Scan QR Code" to capture a temporary screenshot of the setup page to decode the 2FA secret.
host permissions: Specifically limited to cas.cc.binghamton.edu to detect and fill login forms.
4. Data Disclosure
Third Parties: We do not sell, trade, or transfer your data to third parties.
- Remote Code: We do not use any remote code or external scripts. All logic is bundled within the extension package.
5. Security
Your data is protected by the security of your local machine and the Chrome browser's sandboxing environment. Since we do not store your data on any central server, there is no central database that can be breached.
